The Eastern AD/UPM Council coordinates the activities of many hard-working committees. These committees deal with current issues and problems facing Assistant Directors, Unit Production Managers and — in New York and Chicago — Location Managers. Jurisdiction and staffing, currency training, new technology, sustainability, and government and community relations are among the issues being worked on by your fellow members.

Our monthly Eastern AD/UPM Council meetings are usually held in the evening on the first Tuesday of every month at the DGA Headquarters, 110 West 57th Street, 7th Floor, New York and/or virtually via Zoom. There’s a buffet dinner starting at 6:45 pm during in-person meetings, so we would encourage you to attend the meeting if you are an AD or UPM member and come early for dinner. It’s a great opportunity to mingle and network with other members of your union and then to see how the council works.

You can read more about the committees here on the website, but the best way to become involved is to come to a meeting. If you don’t reside in New York, you can still contact us and participate in committee activity by email, phone, or virtually when meetings and events include that option. Our Council meetings are full of information and camaraderie, addressing current issues and working toward improving the future. Your attendance and participation makes us even stronger. You will find a list of your elected representatives here. Please contact any of us with your questions about the Guild or the Council, or with any work questions or issues you may be encountering. If we don’t have the answer for you, we will direct you to someone who can answer you. It is our great honor and privilege to be members of the Guild; it is also our responsibility to keep it strong and current. Please come join us in that effort. You will be warmly welcomed.

Please also contact me if you are interested in serving on one of our many committees or being considered as an alternate when council elections are underway.

Sincerely,

Canella Williams-Larrabee,
Eastern AD/UPM Council Chair
