Eastern AD/UPM Council Hosts Member Education Hour

March 4, 2019 An Eastern AD/UPM Council Member Education Committee Event

On March 4, AD/UPM members gathered in the Guild’s New York boardroom for the Eastern AD/UPM Council’s Member Education Hour event. Presented by the Council’s Member Education Committee, the Member Education Hour is an opportunity for members to learn, network and meet their elected representatives.

The subject of the event was the Guild’s Low Budget Agreement intended for productions made for theatrical or home video/DVD release. After an introduction by Member Education Committee Chair Michael Reichman, DGA Assistant Executive Director Mary Hatch shared some background on the Low Budget Agreement’s history and overall structure; DGA Contracts Administrator Renae Robinson provided an overview of the agreement’s various budget tiers and certain contractual terms; DGA Senior Field Representative Bart Daudelin explained the application of Qualifications Lists on low budget films; and UPM/Council Member Lynn Appelle and UPM/former Council Alternate Member Brian Papworth discussed the challenges, realities, and rewards of working on low budget films.

The Member Education Hour attendees were also invited to stay for the monthly Eastern AD/UPM Council meeting, which followed.
