On January 31, the Latino Committee (LC) meeting featured the discussion, How Do We Win? A Conversation with Director/Writer/Executive Producer Lauren Iungerich. In a candid discussion moderated by LC Co-Chair Eli Gonda (With Love), Iungerich emphasized her goal of maintaining a diverse Director and crew roster, as well as lending support to Assistant Directors who want to direct. Iungerich said, “When everyone around me is seen is when I feel most seen myself.” She also underscored the importance of the Director/Showrunner relationship to a Director’s long-term success and shared tips on getting asked back.
One of the most notable creators in the YA space, Iungerich’s credits include the series Awkward, On My Block, Freeridge and Boo, Bitch. She has been a DGA Member since 2011.
