After 22 years as National Executive Director, and numerous Guild milestones, Jay D. Roth retires from the position, transitioning to a Senior Advisor role. National Board unanimously selects 16-year veteran Guild executive Russell Hollander to succeed him. Thomas Schlamme elected DGA President at the Guild’s National Biennial Convention in June. DGA National Board speaks out against sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and establishes a hotline to report these issues. DGA announces new TV Director Mentorship Program to build upon the Guild’s expanded talent development lineup and push for industry inclusion. Damien Chazelle wins DGA Feature Film Award for La La Land. Guild membership surpasses 17,000.

King Vidor helped bring directors together to form the Guild and became its first president during the early, perilous years. His legacy as a great filmmaker and fighter for directors' rights continues today.
