2011 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the DGA. A year-long celebration kicks off at the DGA Awards with specially-commissioned films highlighting game-changing moments in Guild history and a Director's Cut montage of 75 years of member work in all genres. The anniversary year includes 26 special events in Los Angeles, New York and London honoring game-changers; DGA Honors; and commemorative issues of DGA Quarterly. Guild members ratify new BA, FLTTA and Commercial contracts. Taylor Hackford re-elected DGA President for a second term. A new DGA website launches in May with new functionalities including streaming video, online dues payment and improved navigation. The Guild works with an entertainment community coalition to fight Internet theft. The DGA mourns the passing of Past President and current Secretary-Treasurer Gil Cates.
