Patty Jenkins discusses Wonder Woman

June 11, 2017 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles
An Amazon princess finds her way into the world of men in Director Patty Jenkins’s highly anticipated feature, Wonder Woman

Jenkins’s super-hero origin story follows the adventures of Princess Diana of Themyscira, the all-female sanctuary of the immortal Amazons. When American pilot Steve Trevor crash lands near the island in the middle of WWI, Diana escorts him home and finds herself torn between a mission to promote peace and her own warrior upbringing. Will she find her true destiny as Wonder Woman?

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on June 11, Jenkins sat down with Director Richard Donner (Superman) to discuss the making of Wonder Woman and the challenges of taking on such iconic characters.

In addition to Wonder Woman, Jenkins’s credits include the critically lauded feature film Monster; the movie for television Exposed; the pilot for the series Betrayal; episodes of the series Entourage and Arrested Development; and the short films Velocity Rules and Just Drive. She was nominated for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television/Mini-Series for her segment "Pearl" of the 2011 anthology feature Five (shared with Jennifer Aniston ("Mia"), Alicia Keys ("Lili"), Demi Moore ("Charlotte") and Penelope Spheeris ("Cheyanne.") That year she also won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series for her pilot episode of the series The Killing, which also earned her a Prime-time Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Jenkins has been a DGA member since 2004.
