Eduardo Letamendi (Director) - was born and raised in Chicago by his Ecuadorian parents. After he received a BFA in Photo/Film/and Electronic media from UIC he went to graduate school and earned his Master’s Degree in Film and Video from Columbia College Chicago. His thesis film Rising Up was nominated for an Imagen Award for Best Theatrical Short. Eduardo’s latest short film Emblem won Best Sci-Fi at the 2020 Official Latino Film and Arts Festival. In October 2021 he was selected for the DGA East Coast Director’s Mentorship program. Eduardo is one of ten protégé’s who’s paired up with a Director mentor. The program aims to set members up for success through professional development so that they can turn new opportunities into long-term careers.
Since 2000 Eduardo has been working in television news production. He is a freelance DGA Director for NBC and Fox news Chicago. While a staff Technical Director at CBS News he was awarded two Emmys, one in 2014 for Outstanding Achievement in broadcasting and in 2007 for Technical Achievement for the broadcasting of the 2006 Chicago Marathon.
Eduardo’s feature script, 4 Days Until Christmas, was selected into NALIP’s Latino Producer’s Academy. As a Directing Fellow, he was able to direct a few scenes of his script as a proof of concept. In 2013, Eduardo was a finalist for the CBS Emerging Creative Leaders Experience.
Eduardo is a member of the DGA and NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers).
