The Guild provided info and aid for
members impacted by the pandemic.

The Guild achieves significant gains in made-for-SVOD residuals, wages, employer pension contributions and TV creative rights in its new agreement with employers struck just before production was shut down in March due to the pandemic. The DGA spearheaded the development of new science-based protocols for production to resume safely -- and joined with sister unions SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, Teamsters and the Basic Crafts in unprecedented multi-union negotiations on a Return-to Work agreement with employers. The Guild, DGA Plans and Foundation provided aid and relief for members in the downtime. The DGA establishes a racial harassment hotline for members to report incidents. Sam Mendes wins DGA Theatrical Feature Film Award for 1917.

King Vidor helped bring directors together to form the Guild and became its first president during the early, perilous years. His legacy as a great filmmaker and fighter for directors' rights continues today.
