About the LGBTQ+ Committee

The LGBTQ+ Committee was created to address the concerns of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) DGA members.

More... Less...

History of the LGBTQ+ Committee

In June 2021, the DGA National Board created a provisional committee to address the concerns of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) members and to explore ways to educate, inform and create opportunities for members who identify in these categories. In January 2022, the Board voted make the LGBTQ+ Committee an official standing committee of the Guild.

The Committee is dedicated to empowering and advancing the professional interests of LGBTQ+ members and to promoting and working for employment equity throughout the entertainment industry. At the time of its creation, the Committee's provisional Co-Chairs were Directors John Krokidas, Kimberly Peirce and Jeremy Podeswa.

Members who self-identify as LGBTQ+ with the Guild may receive information about the Committee. New fields have been added to the DGA’s online directory to provide members who self-identify as LGBTQ+, Transgender or Non-Binary, to have the opportunity for employers and their fellow members to be able to search for them on the basis of that status in the Employer Eligibility Search. To publicly or privately self-identify, please log in as a member on the DGA website and navigate to the Account Settings page, then click “Edit” under Personal Attributes. To be added to the LGBTQ+ Committee email list, members may update their email addresses and subscription preferences, on the Email Settings page of this area.

For more information about the LGBTQ+ Committee, please contact DGA Committee Coordinator, Katie Dalmas, at (310) 289-5344 or via email at KDalmas@dga.org..
