California (August 14, 2014) – The California Film and Television Production Alliance – a coalition of guilds, unions, producers, small businesses, and associations that have worked together for more than a decade to promote, improve, and enhance film and television production in the State of California – today issued the following statement regarding Assembly Bill 1839, the California Film & Television Job Retention and Promotion Act.
“The bill approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, under Senator Kevin De Leon’s leadership, underscores a commitment to the hardworking men and women of California’s film and television production community and a promise to put an end to the loss of these middle class jobs. The bill includes some new amendments which we look forward to reviewing in more detail. Today’s action demonstrates that Senator De Leon, along with the bill’s authors, Assembly members Mike Gatto and Raul Bocanegra, are committed to a bill that will once again enable California to reclaim its historic and iconic industry.”
