DGA Commissions Research on New Media

February 17, 2009

LOS ANGELES, CA: The Directors Guild of America today announced that it has retained the services of strategic analysis firm Wolzien LLC to continually update the extensive new media research used by the DGA in its negotiations cycle of 2007-2008. Tom Wolzien, the founder of Wolzien LLC, was a key DGA consultant in the last round of negotiations. His services will continue through the next round of negotiations and potentially beyond.

"The DGA's decision to fund long-term research about the future of new media served us very well during our most recent negotiations," said DGA National Executive Director Jay D. Roth. "The DGA has always believed that being as prepared as possible is a key factor in laying the groundwork for negotiations. Armed with the latest research and analysis we know that we'll be well-prepared when it comes time to launch negotiations once again."

Roth added, "Tom Wolzien is one of the best in his field and we are very pleased to have him on board for our next negotiations cycle."

"Sorting out where the industry is going is difficult, and I look forward to continuing to participate in the DGA's effort to develop honest estimates based on the best information available at the time," said Wolzien.

During the 2007/2008 negotiations cycle, the DGA hired Wolzien and other consultants to prepare projections on the future of new media. Under the new contract, Wolzien LLC will provide updates to the DGA National Board and Executive Staff on an ongoing basis.
