DGA Names Bryan Unger Western Executive Director

January 06, 2000
DGA National Executive Director Jay D. Roth today announced the promotion of DGA Associate Western Executive Director Bryan Unger to the position of Western Executive Director.

"Bryan Unger’s new position is a reflection of the great skill and dedication he has demonstrated on behalf of the DGA membership while playing a key role in many important Guild issues, including our fight against runaway production and our efforts to strengthen relationships with the independent film community," commented Roth. "His promotion will help us build up the Guild's services to our western region members in all categories, particularly in the area of contract enforcement."

After graduation from the New York University Film School, Unger worked in film and television production for several years before beginning his career as a labor executive at Local 15 of NABET. He then served five years as an International Representative with the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) in New York before relocating to Los Angeles in 1994 to begin his career at the DGA as an Assistant Executive Director before being promoted to Associate Western Executive Director one year ago.

Unger succeeds Warren Adler, who has served as both Western Executive Director and Associate National Executive Director since Adler’s promotion one year ago to the latter position as the Guild’s second-ranking executive.
