DGA President Gene Reynolds and Awards Committee Chairman Howard Storm today announced Larry Kamm as the winner of the Lifetime Career Achievement Award in Sports Director Category for 1996.
While serving as director for ABC Sports from 1968 to 1995, Kamm won 12 Emmy Awards. He has directed Monday Night Football, NCAA College Football and Basketball, 11 Olympic Games (Winter and Summer) including the 1996 Atlanta Games, Super Bowl XXII and Super Bowl XXV’s pre-game, half-time and post game shows.
In addition, Kamm has directed over 300 assorted events for ABC's Wide World of Sports, coverage of the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500 and Grand Prix of Monaco, World and National Figure Skating and Gymnastics Championships as well as Professional Bowling.
The award will be presented to Kamm at the 49th Annual DGA Awards banquet at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and at the Sheraton in New York.
