Woody Allen to Receive D.W. Griffith Award

DGA Awards Committee Chairman Howard Storm today announced that distinguished director Woody Allen has been selected as the 1996 recipient of the Guild's highest honor, the D.W. GRIFFITH AWARD for lifetime directorial achievement.

As a Griffith Award honoree, he joins a list of the greatest film directors in motion picture history, among them Frank Capra, John Ford, Fred Zinnemann, Cecil B. Demille, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, Fred Zinnemann, Billy Wilder, Robert Altman, Sidney Lumet and James Ivory.

The D.W. Griffith Award will be presented along with the DGA Awards for outstanding directorial achievement during 1995 in film and television at the 48th Annual DGA Awards banquet on March 2,1996 at the Century Plaza Hotel.
