DGA Continues to Speak Out on AI

DGA Speaks out on AI

March 19, 2025

DGA executive leadership recently participated in two key conferences, taking our Guild’s message on AI out to the broader tech and entertainment community, and helping drive the conversation forward about how to fairly implement these technologies in our industry.

At the Labor Innovation & Technology Summit, held alongside CES in January, DGA National Executive Director Russ Hollander joined other labor leaders to discuss AI’s role in future negotiations. He emphasized that Directors approach AI differently than studios, stating, “Our members want to make sure AI is not used to cut jobs or to save money, but that it is used as a creative tool.”

Similarly in March, DGA Associate National Executive Director/Western Executive Director Rebecca Rhine spoke at the SXSW panel, The Future of AI in Hollywood in an AI-Saturated World. She highlighted how the DGA’s recently negotiated contracts safeguard members from AI-related risks while also harnessing its potential to strengthen and expand the industry.
