The DGA has not only faced difficulties before, it was specifically founded to meet these moments ... together.
In honor of Labor Day — founded after labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being — we look back at the challenges that inspired Hollywood's most influential Directors to band together in order to achieve proper recognition and better creative and economic conditions, resulting in the creation of the Screen Directors Guild more than 85 years ago.
