Bill Miller

August 6, 2022

Stage Manager and former DGA Second Alternate Board Member Bill Miller recently passed away.

A DGA member since 1996, Miller served 11 terms on the Eastern AD/SM/PA Council including serving as First Vice Chair, Second Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer. He was also elected as a Second Alternate to the DGA National Board from 2013-2015 and from 2017-2019, and served on five network negotiating committees – including the current one –  working for better Guild contracts.

After joining the DGA as a PA, Miller got a chance to be regular stage manager on Good Morning America. He has also worked on programs including The Chew, Tamron Hall, Martha and The Real World; and specials including New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis. He also worked as a Stage Manager on Glenn Weiss and Rob Ashford’s 2015 DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Mini-Series nominated production, Peter Pan Live!

About his longtime service to the Guild and his Council, Miller said, “It’s so important that members speak up when they see a problem [on sets], and my work with the Council is really an extension of that. It can be difficult to attend meetings when you work in early morning television. But considering how much this Guild has given me, it’s the very least I can do."
