The DGA’s Women’s Steering Committee (WSC) has announced the newest class of its WSC Squad Mentorship Program. The program, which debuted in July of 2021, launched its 2022 session in late January and pairs 11 mid-career Directors with well-established mentors.
The new class has been selected and the mentees/mentors are:
- Uta Briesewitz mentoring America Young
- Kat Coiro mentoring Rachel Raimist
- Destin Daniel Cretton mentoring Nijla Mu’min
- Siân Heder mentoring Jen Derwingson-Peacock
- Nicole Kassell mentoring SJ Chiro
- Karyn Kusama mentoring Marie Jamora
- Kelly Park mentoring Evelyn Belasco
- Kari Skogland mentoring Jen McGowan
- Anu Valia mentoring Elvira Ibragimova
- Dawn Wilkinson mentoring Tchaiko Omawale
- Jessica Yu mentoring Charissa Sanjarernsuithikul
The WSC Squad Mentorship Program will run for six months and aims to create a solid community of working Directors within the DGA’s WSC. The program will provide frank guidance and discussions around the unique issues that female Directors face to support and prepare WSC members as they seek to advance their directing careers.
The WSC Squad Mentorship Program is coordinated by Directors Amy Aniobi, Maureen Bharoocha, Lena Khan and Amber Sealey. The WSC Co-Chairs are Director Tara Miele, UPM Liz Ryan and 1st AD Shawn Pipkin-West and Alternate Co-Chair, Director Shaz Bennett.
