The DGA together with our sister unions representing casts and crews – SAG-AFTRA, the IATSE, Teamsters and the Basic Crafts – reached an agreement with the major studios to extend the September 2020 Covid-19 Return to Work Safety Agreement by two months. Originally set to expire on April 30, 2021, the agreement has been extended through June 30, 2021.
As part of the extension, the 10 days of Covid-19 paid sick leave per producer established in the September agreement will be replenished, and can be used through December 10, 2021. The paid sick leave has also been expanded to cover Covid-19 vaccination appointments as well as vaccine-related symptoms that prevent employees from being able to work.
The extension gives additional time for the unions and producers to continue monitoring new developments and determine further adjustments as necessary to keep industry workers protected.
