At the DGA National Board meeting in October 17, 2020, the Focus on Women Committee (FOWC) was designated an official standing committee for women members residing in the Eastern Region.
The FOWC was founded in 2009 as a sub-committee of the Eastern Directors Council to explore ways to educate, inform, address the concerns of and create opportunities for women directors. In its new form, the FOWC — now open to all women members in the Eastern Region — is dedicated to empowering and advancing the professional interests of female members in all Guild categories, and to promoting and working for employment equity throughout the entertainment industry.
Elections for the FOWC Co-Chairs and Category Representatives will take place from Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - Tuesday, December 22, 2020. The results will be announced online and in a future issue of DGA Monthly.
The FOWC’s current interim Co-Chairs are Directors Maggie Greenwald and Annetta Marion. Past Co-Chairs of the Committee include Directors Linda Laundra, Laura Belsey and Rosemary Rodriguez.
