Prior to their monthly meeting on September 12, 2018, the members of the Eastern AD/SM/PA Council gathered to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the service of former Council Chair Joyce Thomas who recently resigned her position due to a recent job promotion. During the meeting, Associate Director Glenna Meeks was elected to succeed Thomas as Council Chair after previously serving as First Vice Chair.
Elected to the Eastern AD/SM/PA Council eight times, Thomas was in her third term as Council Chair before stepping down from the post. She has also served the Council as First Vice Chair, Second Vice Chair and Co-Chair of the AD/SM/PA 75th Anniversary Sesame Street event. Thomas was also elected as a Second Alternate to the DGA National Board, served on three Network Agreement Negotiating Committees and also serves as a Co-Chair of the Eastern Diversity Committee. An employee of at CBS for more than 30 years, Thomas joined the Guild in 1996 as an Associate Director/Technical Director in the CBS Broadcast Operations Department before moving on to an Associate Director/Technical Manager position at the network’s Media Distribution Center in New York.
A member of the Guild since 2007, Meeks has been a member of the Eastern AD/SM/PA Council since her election as an Alternate in 2010. She has served more than five terms on the Council including her most recent post as First Vice Chair before being elected to the position of Chair. Meeks is an Associate Director in CBS’ Media Distribution Center.
During the September meeting, the Council also elected Associate Director Leslie Williams as First Vice Chair and tapped Associate Director and Council Alternate Angelina Chavez fill the vacancy on the Council.
