On March 19, the Women’s Steering Committee (WSC) meeting featured the discussion, DGA & WGA Women in Alliance: How Do We Foster Rich Relationships On Set?
During a lively discussion moderated by Director Amy Aniobi (Rap Sh!t, Insecure, Survival of the Thickest), Directors Charissa Sanjarernsuithikul (Found, All American, Walker) and Dawn Wilkinson (Bel-Air, All American, Truth Be Told) and Writers Yvette Lee Bowser (Unprisoned, Dear White People, Run the World), Nkechi Okoro Carroll (All American, All American: Homecoming, Found) and Chitra Sampath (Truth Be Told, The Bell Jar, Secrets & Lies) focused on best practices for Directors and Writers working together on a project.
The panelists also discussed the importance of creative collaboration and how important communication is in fostering productive on-set relationships; highlighted specific challenges they have experienced on set while working together and revealed how they found compromises to support the creative visions of one another.
