A Conversation on Mental Health

January 23, 2024 A DGA Asian American Committee Event

On January 23, the Asian American Committee’s (AAC) meeting included the event, A Conversation on Mental Health. In a conversation moderated by Committee Co-Chair Maureen Bharoocha, licensed therapists Angela Wallace and Sum-Yee gave an overview on benefits of counselling and exploring self-care resources.  Both therapists shared information on how to be well-resourced to deal with hectic or high-pressure situations typical to Directors and Director’s team members. They gave coping techniques on how to deal when you or others may feel overwhelmed and stressed the importance of being empowered and not fearing to call a break to recompose. They also discussed the value reminding ourselves that we are not alone and of reaching out to affinity groups to commune with peers to share and overcome adversities.

Following the moderated portion of the discussion, the panelists took questions from attendees.
