Director Linda Yellen discusses Chantilly Bridge

A group of lifelong, steadfast friends reunites in Director Linda Yellen’s drama, Chantilly Bridge.

Set 25 years later, after her groundbreaking Sundance hit, Chantilly Lace, Yellen brings back the same actresses for a story that travels back and forth between films as they deal with important issues that impact all women.

On April 1, after the DGA membership screening in New York, Yellen discussed the making of Chantilly Bridge during a Q&A moderated by Director Mary Harron (DalĂland).

During the conversation, Yellen spoke about her use of improvisation in both Chantilly Lace and Chantilly Bridge. “It was almost a spiritual experience as well as an experimental experience in the first one and this one too. Some scenes were totally scripted, and some scenes were totally not. What I like to do is search for kernels of truth and not tell the actors everything that’s going to happen. Just the people that need to know what’s going to happen.”

In addition to Chantilly Lace and Chantilly Bridge, Yellen’s directorial credits include the feature films Fluidity, The Last Film Festival and The Simian Line; and the movies for television William & Catherine: A Royal Romance, Northern Lights, End of Summer, Parallel Lives and Jacobo Timerman: Prisoner Without a Name, Cell Without a Number.

Yellen has been a DGA member since 1979 and serves on the Eastern Directors Council.
