Exploring Best Practices and Processes for Directing Reality Television

On June 21, the Latino Committee meeting included the discussion, Exploring Best Practices and Processes for Directing Reality Television, a conversation with Director Jason Martinez (Temptation Island) moderated by Committee Co-Chair Jay Torres (CeReality).

During the discussion, Martinez spoke about the evolution of reality television, from the early days circa 2001 to present. He revealed the contributions reality television has made to other types of productions including camera techniques which lead to a new style of shooting for scripted series such as The Office and Parks and Recreation. He also discussed his pathway to becoming a DGA member.

Martinez is a Director and Producer known his work on reality television series such as Rad Girls, Rebel Without a Crew: The Series, Viva la Bam and Temptation Island. He became a DGA member in 2020.


ABOUT THE COMMITTEE:

The Latino Committee was created as a networking group to advance career and job opportunities for Latino DGA members by improving craft skills, networking, and making Latinos better known to the Hollywood creative community.
