On July 20, the Latino Committee meeting featured a conversation with Director/Stunt Coordinator Eddie Perez, who spoke about his work on series including, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mayans MC, during a dialog moderated by Committee Co-Chair SJ Main Muñoz.
During the conversation, Perez discussed how a Stunt Coordinator works with Actors and Directors to tell the story; how Directors can communicate effectively with Stunt Coordinators and take advantage of their creativity; and what he does to prepare for a shoot.
Speaking of finding character though action he said, “It’s kind of tailoring it too and separating the action for the Actors. So, it’s not all the same. No one fights the same. Everybody has their own way of dealing with their anger and their emotion. And again, it’s not something that people will understand, but when they see it, they know what’s going on subliminally.”
Perez has been a DGA member since 2000.
