A Conversation with Director Aurora Guerrero

On January 19, the Latino Committee’s meeting featured a conversation with Director Aurora Guerrero (Blindspotting), moderated by Director Evelyn Belasco (Henry Danger),

During the conversation, Guerrero spoke about how she was inspired to go into directing through her social justice and activism; how her work is inspired by what she knows and has lived; and shared information about her upcoming projects.

Guerrero is a Chicana, queer identified filmmaker who co-founded Womyn Image Makers (WIM), a film collective based out of Los Angeles where she directed short films including Pura Lengua and Viernes Girl. Her debut narrative feature film, Mosquita y Mari, premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Her television directing credits include episodes of Blindspotting, Mr. Corman, Belair, The Wilds, Little America, Gentefied, 13 Reasons Why, Cherish the Day, Greenleaf, The Red Line and Queen Sugar. Guerrero joined the DGA in 2018.

ABOUT THE COMMITTEE:

The Latino Committee was created as a networking group to advance career and job opportunities for Latino DGA members by improving craft skills, networking, and making Latinos better known to the Hollywood creative community.
