Indie Directors Outreach at 2021 Outfest Film Festival

The DGA recently hosted a virtual reception for filmmakers with projects accepted into the 2021 Outfest Film Festival. 

At the reception on August 26, Director Kimberly Peirce spoke to the online attendees about how the Guild’s flexibility makes it possible to still be an independent filmmaker and protected by the DGA; Director John Krokidas, who Co-Chairs the Guild’s provisional LGBTQ+ Committee alongside Kimberly Peirce and Jeremy Podeswa, spoke about the newly formed Committee and its inclusionary goals; Outfest’s Executive Director Damien Navarro and Director of Festival Programming Mike Dougherty gave a festival recap and DGA Senior Manager, Feature & Independent Outreach Matt Gamarra explained how the Guild works with indie Directors.
