A Conversation with Angeline Buenaventura & Leila Lee

October 26, 2021 A DGA Asian American Committee Virtual Event

On October 26, the Asian American Committee’s (AAC) meeting featured a discussion with Angeline Buenaventura, the Creative Talent Development Manager at Netflix and Leila Lee, the Associate Director of Community Business from the Los Angeles Mayor's office.

In a conversation moderated by AAC Co-Chair Kai Kim (The Young and the Restless), Lee and Buenaventura — who was formerly the Policy Liaise Entertainment for Tourism and Hospitality at the Los Angeles Mayor's office — spoke about Mayor Eric Garcetti’s new taskforce called AAPI, that is comprised of local organizations that support and advocate for Asian American Pacific Islander residents. The taskforce’s mission is to give voice to the concerns of Los Angeles AAPI citizens, starting with a podcast called Asian American Stories, that will feature conversations with Asian leaders and members of the community.

During the meeting, the Committee also announced that Director Maureen Bharoocha (Golden Arm) will serve as the new Alternate Co-Chair of the AAC, taking over for Director Ian Truitner (Beyond the Trek).
