On June 15, ahead of their online meeting, the Women’s Steering Committee (WSC) hosted the discussion, Take Charge of Your Creative Destiny Part 1: Distributing Your Indie Feature. The event featured Lionsgate Vice President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Lauren Bixby and MarVista Entertainment Vice President of Distribution Michol Hatwan in a conversation moderated by Directors Jodi Binstock and Eda Benjakul.
During the discussion, the panelists spoke about the process of getting an independent feature into the hands of the right distributor. They also discussed the current climate of acquisition and distribution, in both the domestic and international realm, given the rise of streaming outlets.
Following the moderated portion of the conversation, the panelists fielded questions submitted by the online audience. The second part of this special panel discussion, Funding Your Indie Feature, is scheduled to take place July 20.
The WSC meeting that followed also featured an update from DGA First Vice President Lesli Linka Glatter, who chairs the Parental Leave Committee.
