2019 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival

From May 2-10, the 35th edition of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) presented a program of more than 200 feature-length and short films, filmmaker panels, special presentations, parties and more at various venues around Los Angeles.  On May 4, filmmakers with projects in this year’s LAAPFF attended a brunch hosted by the DGA where they heard a welcome from Asian American Committee (AAC) Co-Chair Lily Mariye (The Terror), who spoke about the work of the Committee and the advantages of Guild membership. Also attending the brunch was AAC Co-Chair Michael Goi (The Rookie).

The festival also screened films by DGA members including Jessica Yu’s feature Ping Pong Playa, Sasie Sealy’s feature Lucky Grandma and Kulap Vilaysack’s documentary Origin Story.

About the Festival

Presented by Visual Communications, LAAPFF hopes to create spaces for connection and add to the dialogues of change. The DGA is a long-time sponsor of the festival.
