Director Suzi Yoonessi discusses Unlovable

A young woman finally comes to grips with her constant hunger for physical intimacy in Director Suzi Yoonessi’s comedic-drama, Unlovable

Yoonessi’s film tells the story of Joy (Charlene deGuzman), a woman who joins a 12-step program to take control of her sex and love addiction after losing her boyfriend, her job and surviving a suicide attempt. She gains a sponsor (Melissa Leo) to help in the battle and discovers the the beauty of platonic friendship when she begins making music with a socially inept musician named Jim (John Hawkes),

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on November 20, Yoonessi sat down with Director Alethea Jones (Queen America) to discuss the making of Unlovable.

In addition to Unlovable, Yoonessi’s credits include the feature film Dear Lemon Lima; the movie for television The Real Reason Women Don't Direct More Action Movies; and episodes of the series Olive and Mocha, Relationship Status and The Dead Girls Detective Agency. She became a DGA member in 2016.
