Director Fede Alvarez discusses The Girl in the Spider’s Web

November 18, 2018 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

The girl with the dragon tattoo is back and facing an even more dangerous challenge in Director Fede Alvarez’s new crime drama, The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

Based on the best-selling novels by David Lagercrantz and a follow-up to David Fincher’s 2011 English language remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Fede Alvarez’s film picks up where we left off with Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy) as she hacks a computer program that can access nuclear weapons across the globe. Soon she and journalist Mikael Blomkvist find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on November 18, Alvarez sat down with Director Sam Raimi (Kingkiller Chronicle) to discuss the making of The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

In addition to The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Alvarez’s credits include the short film Ataque de Pánico (Panic Attack!), the horror fantasy Evil Dead, and the cat-and-mouse thriller, Don’t Breathe. Alvarez joined the DGA in 2014.
