Rawson Marshall Thurber on Skyscraper

Director Rawson Marshall Thurber discusses Skyscraper

July 28, 2018 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

A man, quite literally, goes above and beyond to save his family from a burning high-rise building in Director Rawson Marshall Thurber’s new action-drama, Skyscraper.

Thurber reteams with his Central Intelligence star, Dwayne Johnson, to tell the story of Will Sawyer, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran who now assesses security for skyscrapers. When the tallest building in the world is set ablaze, Will finds himself framed for the crime of arson. Now he must use all his skills to both clear his name and rescue his family who are trapped inside the burning structure.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on July 29, Thurber sat down with Director Joe Carnahan (Boss Level) to discuss the making of Skyscraper.

In addition to Skyscraper and the previously mentioned Central Intelligence, Thurber’s credits include the feature films Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and We're the Millers; the pilot episode of the series Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television; episodes of the series The Loop and Marry Me; and the short films Terry Tate, Office Linebacker and Manchild. Thurber has been a DGA member since 2003 and currently serves as a member of the Theatrical Creative Rights Committee.
