Director Lauren Greenfield discusses Generation Wealth

May 17, 2018 A Special Projects Documentary Series Screening

Director Lauren Greenfield (The Queen of Versailles) continues her examination of wealth culture in her latest documentary, Generation Wealth.

In an incendiary investigation into the pathologies that have created the richest society the world has ever seen, Greenfield’s film examines materialism, celebrity culture, and social status, reflects on the desire to be wealthy at any cost and to the global boom-bust economy, the corrupted American Dream and the human costs of capitalism, narcissism and greed.

Following the DGA Special Projects Documentary Series screening in Los Angeles on May 17, Greenfield sat down with Director Marina Zenovich (Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind) to discuss the making of Generation Wealth. Greenfield also discussed the film in a conversation with Director Marc Levin (Slam) following the DGA membership screening in New York on July 17.

In addition to Generation Wealth, Greenfield’s other films include the documentary feature THIN; the documentary shorts Magic City, Best Night Ever, Beauty CULTure, Fashion Show and Kids + Money; and episodes of the documentary series Artbound and Bling Dynasty. She was nominated for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary for her 2012 feature The Queen of Versailles; and earned another DGA Award nomination in the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials category for her Always spot, "#LikeAGirl." Greenfield has been a DGA member since 2009.
