The true story behind the making of one of the most infamous films in Hollywood history is retold in Director James Franco’s new biographical comedy-drama, The Disaster Artist.

Franco’s film recreates the story behind the making of writer/director Tommy Wiseau’s The Room, a film often referred to as “the Citizen Kane of bad movies.” The Disaster Artist charts the film’s strange beginnings, through its odd and troubled development and release, into its eventual status as a hit cult feature.

Following the DGA membership screening in New York on December 3, Franco sat down with Director Paul Haggis (Show Me a Hero) to discuss the making of The Disaster Artist.

In addition to The Disaster Artist, Franco’s credits include the feature films In Dubious Battle, The Sound and the Fury, Bukowski, As I Lay Dying, Good Time Max, Fool’s Gold, The Ape; and episodes of the series The Deuce and Making a Scene with James Franco. Franco has been a DGA member since 2015.
