Astronaut Neil Armstrong’s journey to that legendary day of July 20, 1969, is re-counted in Director Damien Chazelle’s new biographical drama, First Man.
Chazelle reteams with his La La Land star Ryan Gosling to tell the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land the first human being on the moon, and the individual they chose to make that one small step for man and giant leap for mankind.
Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on October 14, Chazelle sat down with Director David O. Russell (Joy) to discuss the making of First Man. He had previously spoken about the making of the film in a conversation moderated by Director Darren Aronofsky (Mother!) following the DGA membership screening in New York on October 1.
In addition to First Man, Chazelle’s credits include the feature films Whiplash and Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench. He won the 2016 DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for La La Land. Chazelle has been a DGA member since 2015.
