Director Shana Feste discusses Boundaries

June 24, 2018 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

"With every road trip comes baggage..." is the tag line for Director Shana Feste’s new comedic-drama, Boundaries.

Feste’s film tells the story of Laura (Vera Farmiga), a single mother who always puts the needs of others before her own. When her pot-dealing, carefree father Jack (Christopher Plummer) is kicked out of yet another nursing home, Laura agrees to drive him to Los Angeles to live with her sister JoJo (Kristen Schaal). Along for the ride is Laura's awkward 14-year-old son Henry (Lewis MacDougall), whom Jack convinces to help sell off his supply of marijuana at every stop of their journey, resulting in complications that threaten to upend Laura's attempts to hold her family together.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on June 24, Feste sat down with Director Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) to discuss the making of Boundaries.

In addition to Boundaries, Feste’s directorial credits include the feature films Endless Love, Country Strong and The Greatest; and the video short Tim McGraw & Gwyneth Paltrow: Me and Tennessee. She has been a DGA member since 2009.
