On February 2, DGA members enjoyed the 2017 edition of the Meet the Nominees: Commercials symposium in the Guild’s Los Angeles theater complex.
The evening opened with an introduction by DGA Fourth Vice-President Rosemary Rodriguez and included a screening of all the nominated commercials. Then nominees Lance Acord (Frankie’s Holiday, Apple and Movie Night, Kohl’s), Fredrik Bond (Dive, Apple, Everyday Hero, Philips and World of Play, LG), and AG Rojas (The Best Planet, S7 Airlines and The Snail, Samsung) joined moderator David Cornell for a discussion of their work.
The symposium was followed by a reception where the nominees mingled with DGA members and guests. Nominees Dante Ariola (Hold Your Breath, Sun Trust, Riding is the New Driving, Lyft and Tell Me When to Go, Beats) and Derek Cianfrance (Chase, Nike Golf; Doubts, Powerade; Expectations, Powerade; and Manifesto, Squarespace) were unable to attend the symposium.
