The true story of one of the world’s largest man-made disasters is retold in Director Peter Berg’s new drama, Deepwater Horizon.
Berg’s film brings to life the harrowing occurrences that were set into motion on April 20, 2010, when the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing several crew members and unleashing the worst oil spill in U.S. history. The film also reveals the heroic efforts of the men and women on board to save their co-workers and themselves.
Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on October 1, Berg sat down with Director Nick Cassavetes (The Other Woman) to discuss the making of Deepwater Horizon.
In addition to Deepwater Horizon, Berg’s credits include the feature films Lone Survivor, Very Bad Things, The Rundown, Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom, Hancock, Kings Ransom, and Battleship; the movies for television Virtuality and Bloodline; the pilot episodes for the television series Wonderland, Friday Night Lights, Prime Suspect, and The Leftovers; and episodes of the television series Chicago Hope, 30 for 30 and Entourage. Berg has been a DGA member since 1997.
