Outfest, the 30th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, presented 147 films and videos from 24 countries, as well as several panels, special events, parties, and receptions in several different venues around the city from July 12 to 22. Once again the DGA served as both a venue of the festival and a sponsor. The Guild’s Los Angeles headquarters also served as the central nexus for the festival.
As part of the Guild’s outreach efforts for independent filmmakers, on July 16 the DGA also presented one of the festival’s premium events, a luncheon for the filmmakers participating in this year’s Outfest. Director P. David Ebersole (Hit So Hard) spoke to the assembled about the advantages to be found with membership in the DGA.
Outfest is a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender images. It is the oldest continuously running film festival in the city.
