LAAPFF 2011

2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival

May 20, 2012 A DGA Independent Director Outreach Event:

From May 10 - 20, Visual Communications presented a program of feature films, shorts and videos during the 28th Annual Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF).

Presented by Visual Communications, LAAPFF is the southern California’s premier showcase for Asian Pacific cinema. Since 1983, the Festival has presented more than 3,000 films and videos by Asian international and Asian American artists, and additionally features seminars and panels, in-person guest appearances, and filmmaker awards. This year's LAAPFF screened films at various venues such as the DGA, and the Aratani/Japan America Theatre. The LAAPFF is also a highlight of the month-long Asian Pacific Heritage Month activities.

As part of its continuing outreach to independent filmmakers on May 11, the Guild hosted a brunch for LAAPFF Filmmakers where DGA Asian American Committee Co-Chair Chris Tashima spoke to the participants about the ever-changing workplace and the advantages of DGA membership, and DGA Independent Directors Committee member Mary Lambert was on hand to answer questions about the Guild.
