Richard Correll was born in Los Angeles, California in 1948 and began his entertainment industry career as a child actor in shows such as The Bob Cummings Show, Leave it to Beaver and Lassie. By the time he graduated from USC, Correll had amassed experience in the postproduction world and eventually became a producer for Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley. He went on to write several episodes of Happy Days and eventually left to produce a new show called Valerie (later titled The Hogan Family). He received his first of 21 directing credits from the show and began his career as an episodic television director. During the 1990s as he added credits like Perfect Strangers, Family Matters and Step by Step for ABC, Correll developed a reputation for family-centered programming. He became a go-to choice for the network’s expansion of children’s television in the 2000s which has made him one of the most prolific episodic television directors with over 700 episodes under his belt.

Correll’s credits in episodic television include Full House, Going Places, The Family Man, Married… with Children, The Jaime Foxx Show, That’s So Raven, The Suite Life of Zach & Cody, Hannah Montana, Are We There Yet, See Dad Run, Jessie, Bunk’d, Fuller House and Raven’s Home. Correll has also directed a feature film entitled Ski Patrol.

Correll has been a member of the Guild since 1986.
