Andrew Davis got his first big break as camera assistant on Haskell Wexler's iconic independent feature Medium Cool (1969). He went on to work as a cinematographer for a variety of directors, then moved into feature directing with Stony Island (1978), which he co-wrote and co-produced.
Davis has directed many popular action films including Under Siege (1992), The Fugitive (1993), A Perfect Murder (1998), Collateral Damage (2002), and The Guardian (2006). He is known for setting many of his films in his native Chicago. In 1994 for his work on The Fugitive, Davis received a DGA Award nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement and was also nominated for a Golden Globe.
Andrew Davis has been an Alternate on the DGA’s Western Directors Council and has served on the Guild’s Theatrical Creative Rights and Political Action Committees.
