Carl Weathers began his career in the entertainment industry as an actor in theatre, television and feature films.
He is known for his portrayal of Apollo Creed in four Rocky films and has appeared in many feature films including Force 10 From Navarone, Predator, Action Jackson and Happy Gilmore, as well as television series including The Shield and Arrested Development, as well as movies for television like The Defiant Ones, In the Heat of the Night, Assault on Devil's Island and Assault on Death Mountain.
Weathers' directing credits include episodes of dramatic series including Renegade, Silk Stalkings, Pensacola, 18 Wheels of Justice, For the People, Strong Medicine, Sheena, and ABC/TTV's Comedy Micro Mini-series. A football star at San Diego State, he played for the Oakland Raiders before retiring from sports to pursue acting and directing.
Weathers has served on the Board of the Directors Guild Foundation since 2003. He was elected as an Alternate Member of the DGA's Western Directors Council in 2003 and 2006, has served as an Alternate Member of the Guild's National Board and as co-chair of the DGA African American Steering Committee.
