For American television, he directed episodic series such as Picket Fences; Chicago Hope; The Practice; Fantasy Island; Law and Order: Special Victims Unit; 7th Heaven; Bones; The Education of Max Bickford; and The Ghost Whisperer, as well as many movies for television including Sensibility and Sense; The Christmas Wife with Jason Robards and Julie Harris; Fire in the Dark starring Olympia Dukakis; A Christmas Carol starring Patrick Stewart and Joel Grey; and The Confession starring Ben Kingsley, Amy Irving, and Alec Baldwin. Jones directed the feature films Betrayal starring Jeremy Irons and Ben Kingsley (winner of the National board of Review Award, Best English Language Film, 1983); 84 Charing Cross Road with Anne Bancroft, Anthony Hopkins and Judi Dench (winner of the BAFTA Award for Anne Bancroft’s performance); Jacknife starring Robert Di Niro, Kathy Baker and Ed Harris; The Trial starring Kyle MacLachlan, Anthony Hopkins and Jason Robards; and Time to Say Goodbye, with Eva Marie Saint and Richard Kiley. David Jones was a member of the DGA Eastern Directors Council and served as Chair of the East Coast Special Projects Committee.
