76th Annual DGA Awards Entry Forms - Movies for Television and Limited Series

The DGA Awards celebrates outstanding directorial achievement and we welcome your entry. Here are the Awards guidelines and entry form for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Limited Series. You must agree to these rules at the bottom of the page in order to go to the Entry Form.

Entry Criteria:
  1. Director Eligibility:
    • Entries must be directed by a DGA member under a DGA Agreement. A Director may enter one program in this category.

    • Entries are accepted only from the Director of the program. An entry found to be submitted without the Director’s knowledge will be immediately disqualified.

    • A Director or Co-Directors who have directed all episodes of a Limited Series may enter the full series. A Director or Co-Directors who have not directed all episodes must submit only one episode.

  2. Eligibility:
    • A Limited Series is defined as a program that does not have an ongoing season-to-season storyline or series-brand and main characters in subsequent seasons – and is comprised of a minimum of two, and a maximum of thirteen episodes. A Movie for Television is defined as an original program, which tells a story with a beginning, middle and end, and is broadcast in one part.

    • Only Movies for Television and Limited Series that have originally aired on television or on streaming services during the period of January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023 are eligible.

    • Programs exhibited theatrically prior to television or streaming are not eligible. DGA-covered programs produced specifically for streaming services are eligible. Programs that are only broadcast locally are not eligible.

  3. Length:
    • Entries must have a minimum broadcast format length of approximately one hour.

  4. Credit:
    • The Director must have exercised all traditional directorial functions in connection with original photography and received an on-screen "Directed By" credit. "Created By" is not considered a directorial credit and is insufficient.

  5. Entry Requirements:
    • The Director must submit a completed DGA Awards entry form. A confirmation e-mail will be sent upon receipt of the entry form.

    • Directors must have a Deal Memorandum on file with the DGA for the project being submitted.

    • For a Limited Series, the Director submitting is required to provide a letter from the production company that confirms the series is close ended and will have no additional seasons. Limited Series entries will not be accepted without a letter.

    • Directors who have directed and are entering all episodes of the Limited Series will be required to provide final main and end title credits for each episode of the series with this entry form. Entries which contain all episodes of a Limited Series will not be accepted without the final main and end title credits for each episode.

  6. Direct-to-DVD/VOD:
    • DGA-covered Direct-to-DVD/VOD projects are eligible to be entered for DGA Awards consideration, provided the Direct-to-DVD/VOD release has been broadcast on television or made available on a subscription consumer pay platform. The television broadcast or internet exhibition on a subscription consumer pay platform must occur within 7 days of the original Direct-to-DVD/VOD offering. The Direct-to-DVD/VOD offering, television broadcast, or internet exhibition must all occur within the same eligibility period.
Entry Deadline:
  • All entries must be received in the Awards office by 6:00 p.m. PT on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2023. No entries will be accepted after the deadline

Judging Process:
  • Movies for Television and Limited Series entries will be placed on a nomination ballot that will be available to the DGA membership for voting online, starting Friday, December 15, 2023. The five entries that receive the highest number of votes will be announced as the 2023 DGA Movies for Television and Limited Series Nominees on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

  • Nominees will be required to immediately provide a secure password protected HD link of the nominated project with the following specifications as well as an HD file (QuickTime Movie in Apple ProRes, 1920 x 1080) . These five will then be viewed by a Director-Member Blue Ribbon Panel that will, by secret ballot, select the winner of the 2023 DGA Movies for Television and Limited Series Award. The winner will be announced at the 76th Annual DGA Awards on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
