76th Annual DGA Awards Entry Forms - Children's Programs

The DGA Awards celebrates outstanding directorial achievement and we welcome your entry. Here are the Awards guidelines and entry form for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children's Programs. You must agree to these rules at the bottom of the page in order to go to the Entry Form.

Entry Criteria:
  1. Director Eligibility:
    • Entries must be directed by a DGA member under a DGA Agreement. A Director may enter one program in this category.

    • Entries are accepted only from the Director of the program. An entry found to be submitted without the Director’s knowledge will be immediately disqualified.

  2. Eligibility:
    • Only Children’s Programs that have originally aired on television or on streaming services during the period of January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023 are eligible.

    • Children’s Programs are designed for children, ages 2-16. The program’s target audience is the child (but does not exclude family viewing). Animated programs are not eligible.

    • Programs exhibited theatrically prior to television or streaming are not eligible. DGA-covered programs produced specifically for streaming services are eligible. Programs that are only broadcast locally are not eligible.

    • Only projects eligible under existing DGA Awards Television categories are eligible to be entered in this category.

  3. Length:
    • Entries must have a minimum broadcast format length of approximately one half hour.

  4. Credit:
    • The Director must have exercised all traditional directorial functions in connection with original photography and received an on-screen "Directed By" credit.

  5. Entry Requirements:
    • The Director must submit a completed DGA Awards entry form. A confirmation e-mail will be sent upon receipt of the entry form.

    • Directors must have a Deal Memorandum on file with the DGA for the project being submitted.

    • The Director must provide a secure, password protected HD link of the Children's Program, with start and end credits including the "Directed By" credit. A watermark may be included provided it does not obscure the entry. The link must go directly to the entry and should not require additional information to access it beyond the password. This link will be forwarded to the members of the DGA Awards Children's Programs Screening Committee and must remain active for the duration of Awards, ending on Friday, February 9, 2024.

  6. Direct-to-DVD/VOD:
    • DGA-covered Direct-to-DVD/VOD projects are eligible to be entered for DGA Awards consideration, provided the Direct-to-DVD/VOD release has been broadcast on television or made available on a subscription consumer pay platform. The television broadcast or internet exhibition on a subscription consumer pay platform must occur within 7 days of the original Direct-to-DVD/VOD offering. The Direct-to-DVD/VOD offering, television broadcast, or internet exhibition must all occur within the same eligibility period.
Entry Deadline:
  • All entries must be received in the Awards office by 6:00 p.m. PT on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2023. No entries will be accepted after the deadline

Judging Process:
  • Children’s Programs entries will be viewed by a Director-Member Nomination Panel that votes by secret ballot. The five entries that receive the highest number of votes will be announced as the 2023 DGA Children’s Programs Nominees on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

  • These five will then be viewed by a Director-Member Blue Ribbon Panel that will, by secret ballot, select the winner of the 2023 DGA Children’s Programs Award. The winner will be announced at the 76th Annual DGA Awards on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
