Anthem Cyberattack Update

On Friday, February 13, Anthem will begin providing two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft repair services to those whose information was included in the database that was compromised as part of the recent Anthem cyberattack.

This means that, beginning on February 13, all DGA-Producer Health Plan participants can go to www.anthemfacts.com for specific instructions on signing up for these services. Anthem is paying for these services.

It is not yet known if DGA–Participant data was part of the Anthem data breach.  However, as a service to Health Plan participants, Anthem is allowing all participants to sign up for these identity protection services.

Anthem expects to begin sending written notice via mail to those affected by the data breach in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Anthem has clarified that anyone who has previously supplied an email address to Anthem and signed up for email notifications from Anthem will receive information regarding the cyberattack via email. This updates Anthem's previous warning regarding reports of scam "phishing" emails that may appear to be from Anthem.

Participants should continue to use caution when opening emails, clicking on links, and opening attachments that appear to be from Anthem.

On February 4, Anthem, one of the country’s largest providers of health insurance, revealed that the personal information of millions of its customers was the target of a cyberattack.

The DGA–Producer Health Plan contracts with Anthem for use of their provider network. The Health Plan also uses Anthem to pay provider claims. Health Plan participants are not insured by Anthem, so it is not yet known if DGA–PHP participant data was part of the Anthem breach.

Facts about the Anthem Data Breach
